Did you know that the heart is the power center of not just your physical body, but your energy body? Of course we all know that the pumping of your heart is what moves blood through your circulatory system, oxygenating your blood and bringing nutrients to all of your cells.
But did you know that the magnetic field of your heart is 5000 times greater than that of your brain, and that its electrical field is 60 times greater? The Institute of HeartMath has demonstrated this through sophisticated scientific research. Although similar knowledge can be found in our major spiritual traditions as well, long before the technology of science was able to confirm it.
Why does this matter?
Well, you’ve probably heard the phrase “heart-centered” entrepreneur plenty of times.
But what does that actually mean, “heart-centered”?
How does the power of the heart – and even more, the leadership of the heart – actually influence us as we co-create a new paradigm of business?
I’ve been leaning into this question as I am creating the content for my upcoming events, Dare to Awaken and Take Command, both of which are focused on New World Leadership.
I’ve heard from so many of you that you are tired of being told to promote yourself using fear and scarcity, to create a certain type of persona to gain clients, and to push, push, push to make things happen – yep, that’s the old paradigm.
- You desire ways to show up authentically as yourself, powerful and magnetic without being dominating or coercive.
- You want to inspire others to engage with you, not shove yourself in their faces in a desperate attempt to again visibility.
- You know that consistent engagement is necessary, but you do not believe that it’s necessary to exhaust yourself to build your business.
So sometimes you actually do nothing or not as much as you know is needed, but you feel stuck in relation to the ways of doing business that you’ve seen.
Consider this: the old paradigm of business, which developed within the context of the reign of science, has been heavily dependent on “mind-centered” ways of thinking and doing. These have valued logic, strategy, planning, making things happen with forceful action.
And if the brain (or the mind) is that much weaker than the heart – imagine about how much harder you have to work if you are accessing energy and power from the brain rather than the heart.
And conversely, if you are accessing energy from the heart, imagine how much more power you have available to you in your work?
Now THAT is something to take to heart! Interesting, right?
The issue for many, though, is that you don’t know how to use the energy of the heart effectively in relation to your business. There’s a disconnect. You perceive a divide between who you are as a loving, spiritual person, for example, and who you are as a businessperson. Maybe you’ve rejected even the idea of being a businessperson because spiritual, or heart-centered business seems like an oxymoron!
Many ways of connecting with heart energy already exist, and I bet you practice some of them most days. But applying that to your business activities – that’s another matter.
And that’s exactly what the new paradigm of business is all about – honoring vulnerability, transparency, health and well-being, being spiritually connected. Together we are co-creating new world leadership – and it begins with the leadership of the heart.
